Dr Lu is professor of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, and physician of National Clinical Center for Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases in China. Dr Lu has focused on the risk factor and early prevention and control of metabolic diseases such as diabetes. She led the team to conduct the China Cardiometabolic Disease and Cancer Cohort study, and created a national representative biobank of metabolic diseases.

She has published 81 peer-reviewed papers in high-level international journals such as Lancet DE, J Am Coll Cardiol, Diabetes, and JAMA Cardiol during the past five years and the number of citations has totaled 633. She has received grants from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation of China
