Dr. Bloomgarden is a clinician in private practice with an international reputation for writing and lecturing on diabetes, having authored some 600 articles. He is currently a Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and is the Editor of the Journal of Diabetes. He has served on various boards and committees in endocrinology and has been principal investigator in many studies. He is also a reviewer for numerous medical journals. In 2012, Dr. Bloomgarden was awarded the title of Master of the American College of Endocrinology, and in 2020 he became a Fellow of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology. He has been consistently recognized as one of the best doctors in the New York metro area.

Dr. Bloomgarden’s interests in diabetes cover a wide range of topics. He has been closely monitoring the development of therapeutic approaches for the past four decades, and has written extensively on this topic. He is particularly interested in the epidemiology of diabetes, especially the relationship between diabetes and cardiovascular disease. As Editor of the Journal of Diabetes, he writes frequent commentaries on various aspects of diabetes and its complications.
