FAN Xianqun, China

Professor Fan Xianqun,  Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Visual Health, Dean of the Institute of Medical Artificial Intelligence, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Chief Physician of the Department of Ophthalmology, Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.

He is an Academician of the Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis (AOI), Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO), Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCO), and Fellow ad hominem of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is a Distinguished Professor under the Cheung Kong Scholars Programme.

As Principal Investigator, he has presided over a number of national-level programs, including the National Basic Science Center Program, the National Key Research and Development Program, and other major national research initiatives. He has published more than 400 SCI-indexed papers as first author or corresponding author. As the first completer, he has received one First Prize of National Teaching Achievement Award, two Second Prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award, three First Prizes of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, as well as the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress, the Inaugural Innovator Award of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, the Highest Academic Achievement Award of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Chinese Ophthalmology Distinguished Achievement Award.
