Prof. Napoli received his medical degree in 2000 and completed his clinical fellowship and PhD in Metabolic Diseases at Washington University in St Louis. He is Professor of Endocrinology at University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome and Adjunct Faculty at the Division of Bone and Mineral Diseases, Washington University in St Louis. He is Director of the Research Unit of Endocrinology and Diabetes at the Campus Bio-Medico University in Rome, Chief of the Clinical Team and Director of the fellowship program in Endocrinology. His research focuses on the pathophysiology of frailty and comorbidities in people with diabetes or obesity, role of vitamin D, bone and glucose metabolism interplay. He is an advocate of diabetes related health inequalities and collaborated to several projects in third world countries. He has published more than 150 peer reviewed articles in several prestigious and co-authored several international guidelines. He served as Associate Editor of Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and leader of the Annual Meeting Steering Committee of the Endocrine Society. He is co-author of the Standards of Care of the American Diabetes Association and received several awards by national and international institutions.
