Head of the Department of Pediatrics at Ruth Children’s Hospital in Haifa, Israel

Prof. Weiss is a graduate of the Hebrew University School of Medicine at Jerusalem.

Prof. Weiss is a pediatric endocrinologist and performed his PhD dissertation at Yale University. Prof. Weiss is currently the Head of the Department of Pediatrics at Ruth Children’s Hospital in Haifa, Israel.

His research is focused on the underlying pathophysiology of altered glucose metabolism in children and adolescents with obesity. An additional area of interest is diabetes technology and management of type 1 diabetes in children and adults using state of the art technology. Prof. Weiss currently serves as the chief medical officer of the Israeli Juvenile Research Foundation and was previously the head of the childhood obesity task force of the European Association for the Study of Obesity.
